The new website is finally live and everyone is excited. Then a few weeks pass, enquiries have not picked up, and the company is nowhere to be found on Google. This is extremely common, and the good news is that the most effective fixes are usually the most basic ones.
1. Tell Google your website exists
Verify the site in Google Search Console and submit your sitemap. It is free and takes about fifteen minutes, yet many companies have never done it. Afterwards you can also see which search terms people use to find you.
2. Give every page a clear title and description
The title and description are what appear in search results. "Home" or "Untitled" will not earn a single click. Use the words your customers search for and say plainly what you do and where, for example "Kwun Tong Interior Design | Residential & Retail Fit-outs".
3. Speed and the mobile experience
Most searches in Hong Kong happen on a phone. If a page takes five seconds to load, visitors are gone before it appears, and Google ranks it lower too. Compressing images and removing unnecessary plugins often makes an immediate difference.
4. Answer the questions customers actually ask
Instead of a page about "our mission", answer the questions you hear every day: roughly how much does it cost? How long does it take? How is it different from the alternatives? This kind of content is the easiest to find in search and the best at building trust.
5. Set up your Google Business Profile
For a local business, your profile on Google Maps can matter more than the website itself. Fill in your address, opening hours and photos, and encourage happy customers to leave a review.
Finally: start measuring
Without data you cannot tell which change worked. Install Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager, which makes it easier to manage later) and check traffic and enquiry sources once a month. That is enough to guide your next step.
SEO is not a one-off trick. It is doing a few small things well, consistently.
